Nino Machaidze

Nino Machaidze, born in Tbilisi, Georgia, graduated from the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in Milan. In 2007 she debuted in role of Marie in Donizetti’s opera The Daughter of the Regiment at the Teatro alla Scala, thus beginning her international career. One year later, she made her debut at the Salzburg Festival as Juliet in Gounod’s Romeo and Juliet alongside Ronald Villazón.
During her career, she has performed on leading opera stages around the world, among them the Royal Opera House in London, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Opéra National de Paris, the Vienna State Opera and most recently the New National Theater in Tokyo.
Nino Machaidze has very extended repertoire. The most famous roles include Gilda (Rigoletto), Violetta (Traviata), Mimi (La Bohéma), Rosina (The Barber of Seville), Juliet (Romeo and Juliet), Manon, Desdemona (Othello) or Thaïs, which she sang to the god Placido Domingo at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.
